Obituary for BAKER

Donald L. Baker, 77, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 07, 2006 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived and will be missed dearly by his loving wife of 54 years, Rosemary; sons, Bob and wife, Libbie of Anaheim, CA, Rick of Las Vegas, NV, and Don and wife, Judy of Peoria, AZ; daughters, Denise Nilsen and husband, Pete of Randolph, ME, Kris Jones of Albuquerque, and Stephanie Wright and husband, Keith of Albuquerque. He was also blessed with 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Donald was preceded in his journey home by his parents, George and Isabelle; sister, Jean Lovett; and children, Douglas, Michael, John, and Stacy. Donald was retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of decorated service to his country and was very proud to have served during WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. Even unto the end, he was known for his compassion and politeness to others, warm smile, a huge sense of humor and the desire to make everyone smile. The last image that his wife, children, family, and friends had was one of a fighter who only wanted others to know how much he cared about them. Cremation has taken place and a private graveside Service will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
