Obituary for PARR

Katherine Amelia Parr, age 71, beloved Mom, Grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 of pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her ex-husband and best friend, Tom Parr of Albuquerque; and her daughters, Deb Werenko of Santa Fe, Liza Kerr and partner, Kerry of Albuquerque, Mary Sanchez and husband, Patrick of Las Cruces, Cyndi Vandi and husband, Mark of Los Lunas; and her son, Tom Parr of Albuquerque; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Kathy was a devoted mother, friend, mentor, and teacher to many. Kathy was born in Hollywood, CA, but moved to New Mexico when she was 15 years old. She graduated from St. Mary's High School where she met several life-long friends. She taught school for a total of thirty-four years at St. Charles Catholic School, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School, and most recently at Washington Middle School where she retired two years ago. She will be deeply missed and remembered lovingly by her friends and family. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Presbyterian Hospice, especially Barbara Burchard and Dr. Lawson. Special thanks also goes to Jessica Kerr, her granddaughter, who showed complete devotion throughout her illness, and was an example to us all. Cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Service will be held at Mt. Calvary Chapel on Friday, June 23, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Presbyterian Hospice.
