John J. Chavez was born February 8, 1927. Our father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and beloved husband to Mela, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 21, 2006, to be with our Lord and Savior. He left us in the presence and in the loving arms of his son, John Michael, and his wife, Mela. John served his country in World War II, with honor. John joins his parents, Juan and Lucia; his siblings; his sister-in-law, Flora Vau; and grandson, John Michael Chavez Jr. John deeply loved his children and grandchildren, and he leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Mela; his sons, John Michael Sr. and wife, Diane, Stan, Ken and his wife Lorraine, Mark and his wife, Doretta; his grandchildren, Andrea Chavez, Lori Bottom, Darlene Martinez, Veronica Chavez, Gabrielle Chavez, and Giselle Chavez; his great-grandchildren, Naomi Jiron, Alyssa Martinez, Derryke Jiron, Martin Chavez, Orion Bottom, and Andre Martinez. Memorial Services will be held at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 4th and Alameda NW. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, June 23, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday, June 26, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. with U.S. Army honors.
