Obituary for RURY

Elbert W. Rury (Ebb) of Belen, NM passed away on Friday, May 5, 2006. He was born in Rush Springs, OK on June 20, 1927. Ebb was a resident of Belen beginning in 1971, and previously lived in Clovis, NM. He was a veteran and proudly served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He retired from the Mountain Bell Telephone Company after 32 years of service and continued as an active member of the Telephone Pioneers organization. After retirement, he became the Administrator of the Belen Harvey House for a number of years. Ebb and his wife, Virgie became active fishermen during retirement and spent many summers with friends on the upper Pecos River. He was an avid gardener and his back yard was a true oasis in the desert. He was proud to be a lifetime member of the Elks. Ebb was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virgie L. Rury; his twin brother, Zelbert W. Rury of Clovis, NM; his son, Robert Rury and wife, Debbie of Fairview, TX; his grandson, Sean Rury and wife, Tara and daughter, Morgan of Tulsa, OK; and several nieces, nephews, and close family members. In accordance with Ebb's wishes, his body has been respectfully cremated. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 22, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. at the new location of the First United Methodist Church of Belen with Pastor Jay Armstrong officiating.
