Laurene Cutts Austen, 71, a resident of Albuquerque since 1985, died Thursday, May 18, 2006, after a brief illness. She was born February 2, 1935 in Jamaica, NY and managed the family insurance agency in Albuquerque, enjoyed gardening, and was a great cook. Laurene is survived by her husband, Alfred, of 51 years; sons, Gregg and Doug; grandchildren, Jill Miller and Steven Austen; sister, Lois Cutts Sullivan; brother-in-law, Bob; nephew, Wayne of Los Lunas; daughter-in-law, Dorothy; in-laws, Don and Mary Ellen Austen and Lila McKenna, all of Florida; nephews, Phillip McKenna, Daniel McKenna, Michael McKenna, Brian McKenna, Donald Austen, and Clifford Austen; and her childhood friends, Marilyn Gasparino, Hazel Hughs, Barbara Broschard, Lorraine Roberts, and Barbara Vernon. Friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel on Sunday, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Services will be held on Sunday, 3:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel.
