Obituary for PEREA

Amelia B. Perea age 91, resident of Belen, peacefully passed away on Friday May 12, 2006. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Amelia was a long time Valencia County Educator. She retired from Belen Consolidated Schools after 30 years of serving generations of students in the community. She was a member of the Valencia County Retired Educators Association, Catholic Daughters and the Disabled Veterans Auxiliary. Amelia was a strong matriarch who loved to travel and was very fortunate to have taken several trips and cruises around the world with family and friends. She dearly loved her family and took pride in celebrating their accomplishments. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clovis Perea; her parents, Florencio and Fermenia Benavidez; her son, Lawrence; a sister, Lupe; and brother, Frank; her father and mother- in-law, Desiderio and Maria Perea. She is survived by her daughter, Berlinda Lawson and husband Bill, their children Sonia, Geoffrey, and Brad; one great grandson, Ryan Alexander and one great granddaughter, Rylee Amelia born May 13, 2006, just hours after Amelia's passing. In addition, Amelia is survived by her sisters, Aurora Rivera of Los Chavez, Florencia Perea of Valencia, Agneda August of Los Angeles California, Mary Olguin of Los Lunas; a special niece, Lesli Vallejos of Belen; and each of their extended families; in addition to many loving family members and friends. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church beginning with a viewing on Wednesday, May 17, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 6:00 p.m. A final visitation will take place on Thursday, May 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Thursday, May 18, at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Geoffrey Lawson, Bradley Lawson, Ryan Lawson-Maeske, Richard Perea, David Rivera, Lester August Jr., Pat Olguin, and Marc Benavidez.
