U. WILLIAM Col. U. William "Bill" Weeks, (USMCR Ret), 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 2, 2006, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Bill was born October 20, 1929 in Hampton, IA to Dr. and Mrs. Uzziel W. Weeks. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Patricia Weeks; daughter, Susan Hart and husband, John of Scarsdale, NY; daughter, Katherine Hall and husband, James of Santa Fe, NM; son, Tom Weeks and wife, Lyn of Albuquerque, NM; son, Jim Weeks and wife, Lynn of Sandia Park, NM; son, John Weeks and wife, Donna of Denton, TX; grandchildren, Michael, Gregory, and Grace Hart, Alex, Eric, and Kate Hall; Zachary, Libby, and Ryan Weeks; Michael and Kim Weeks; Lauren, Georgia Jo, and Chris Weeks. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Catherine Weeks of Iowa Falls, IA and Jane Young and husband, Jack of Gaithersburg, MD; brother-in-law, Michael Hussey of Sarasota, FL; sisters-in-law, Lee Witt of Santa Fe, NM and Margaret Rinaldi of Tulsa, OK; many nieces and nephews and his four legged best friend "Buddy". During his tenure at the University of New Mexico, Bill was extremely proud of the young men he coached, he was also very committed to the development and growth of the University through other positions he held, such as Director of Development, Lobbyist during the establishment of the UNM Medical School, and as Executive Assistant to several UNM Presidents. A Memorial Rosary will be held Friday, May 5, 2006, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 6, 2006, 10:00 a.m., at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel NE. Interment of cremated remains will take place Monday, May 8, 2006, 10:30 a.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bill Weeks Memorial Football Scholarship Fund, UNM Foundation, MSC07 4260, 1 University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM 87131 or charity of choice.
