ALFRED L. Dr. Alfred L. Lopez, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, died on Thursday, April 27, 2006. He was preceded in death by his son, Dr. Leonard Lopez. Al is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eppie; his children, Dr. Al Lopez, Jr. and wife, Dianne, Dr. Vic Lopez, and Melinda and husband, Bob Langdon; grandchildren, Alfred Lopez, Stacy Bishop (Matt), Chris, Sarah and Olivia Lopez, Richard Lopez (Shawn Cobb), Lesley Kottom (Terry), Jennifer Baxter (Stephen), Kristy Manning (Stephen), Lenny Lopez, Andrew Wheeler, Jackie and Alex Langdon; great-grandchildren, Madison Baxter, Christopher and Chloe Manning; Susie Lopez, Laureen Buro, Jan and Larry Jones, Peggy and Tim Wheeler, Jamie B. Menees and Rose Rivera; and his many extended family members. Dr. Lopez was Past president, Albuquerque District Dental Society and of the NM Dental Society; member of the American Dental Association, NM Dental Society, American Society of Dentistry for Children, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy; member of the board, NM Cancer Society; graduate, University of Kansas City School of Denistry. He was awarded the Sertoma International's First Annual Service to Mankind Award (1955). He also received the Papal Knighthood of St. Gregory from the late Pope Pius XII. As president of the Albuquerque Boys Club, Dr. Lopez and his board of directors were instrumental in building a clubhouse, financed from donations of material, labor and cash from business firms, labor unions, civic club s and private citizens. Dr. Lopez served with the U.S. Army Dental Corps during WWII with the rank of major. Special thanks to Shawn Cobb and Dr. Ray Esquibel (Donna) for all the time and energy devoted to Al's care. Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, May 2, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas, NE with Fr. Francis X. Eggert officiating.
