Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday April 30, 2006

Marjorie Megarity Webb, 89, died peacefully on April 17, 2006 in Grapevine, TX. She was born in 1916 in Beaumont, TX where her parents, Charles and Vina Megarity owned the Beaumont Music Store. She attended Beaumont High School and later the University of New Mexico where she cultivated an interest in archeology and was a member of the Alpha Gamma chapter of Alpha Chi Omega. She was married to Mendel B. Word, Jr. of Port Arthur, TX and later to Pete Webb. Relocating to Albuquerque, NM in 1959, she spent most of her career as Director of Testing for Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute, where she helped guide thousands of TVI students in their career paths. An avid reader, Marjorie was passionate about international travel and enjoyed collecting the handiwork of many Albuquerque and Santa Fe artists. Always a conversationalist, she was a frequent participant in what seemed to be the Megarity "family sport" of civil argument. She was a unique potato chip cruncher and was known to experiment with her own blended beverages. Fiercely independent, she spent her retirement years in Albuquerque, but with declining health, moved to Grapevine, TX in 2004 to be near her daughter. Marjorie's brother, C. H. Megarity and her sister, Ruth Megarity preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Bethe Word Trigg and son-in-law, John W. Trigg of Grapevine, TX; by her sister, Martha Barker of Nashville, TN; by her grandson, John Mendel Trigg and his wife, Susan Keener Trigg of San Antonio, TX; and by her granddaughter, Ginger Trigg Moore and her husband, Jimmy Moore of Germantown, TN. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Jon Paul, Lauren, and Kelly Sullivan of Germantown, TN; and Magdalena and Patrick Trigg of San Antonio, TX.
