Obituary for LOPEZ

Jimmy R. Lopez, age 53, of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006 after injuries received from a car accident in Albuquerque. He grew up in Espanola, and most recently lived in Albuquerque. He is survived by two sons, Patrick and Nicholas Ortega; girlfriend, Cynthia Miranda; two sisters, Eva Marie Damore and husband, Wayne of Pasadena, CA and Nina Lopez of Colorado Springs, CO; brothers, Eddie Lopez of Denver, CO, Norbert Lopez Jr. of Colorado Springs, Claudio and Ben Lopez of Espanola; one niece, Alyssa Damore of Pasadena, CA; and several nephews in Espanola. Jimmy Lopez was known as a skilled basketball player when he was growing up in the Espanola Valley and had a natural, easy manner that earned him many friends over the years. A Vietnam-era Veteran, Jimmy Lopez was stationed in West Germany while in the U.S. Army. He is also survived by his father, Norbert Lopez and wife, Daysi of Espanola. Jimmy Lopez was preceded in death by his mother, Angie R. Lopez. He had several uncles, aunts, and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services in Albuquerque, on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with U.S. Army Honors.
