Obituary for FAUCON

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday April 16, 2006

Ivan Faucon (retired Major U.S. Army) resident of Albuquerque passed away in his home on April 8, 2006 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Ivan was born on May 31, 1922 in Springfield, Illinois to Martha and Valentine Faucon. A Veteran of WWII, Ivan joined the U.S. Calvary in 1940 and retired after 25 years of service from the Corps of Engineers, and again, after another 25 years with the Civil Service. In 1945 Ivan Faucon would meet his Bride (and his match), Rolande Poulard in Reims, France. Their love and their life together would last for over 60 years and in concert they would travel the world, sharing this wanderlust with their children. Ivan, from humble beginnings, became a mentor for his colleagues, children, nieces, nephews and surrogate sons and daughters. His wise advise was always highly valued. He was also a builder, an engineer, and a soldier. However, second to being a husband, Ivan was a father, and our final lesson comes from him through Corinthians, Chapter 13, verses 4 -13: .Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; Does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; Does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. .For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. Ivan is preceded in death by his son, Phillip Faucon. Survivors include his wife, Rolande Faucon; sibling, Arthur Faucon; son and wife, Ivan and Barbara Faucon; daughter and husband, Micheline and Michael Repasky, their children Aaron and Renee Repasky; and daughter and husband, Carmen and Barry Woodward. The family would like to thank my mother's sister, Micheline Coen, for her endless devotion, the San Juan Bautista Parish for their prayers and Vista Care-Hospice for helping the family transition with Ivan's decline in health. .Though grave digger's toil is long, sharp their spades, their muscles strong. They but thrust their buried men, back in the human mind again. -Under Ben Bulben, William Yeats A burial for his earthly remains with full military honors will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on May 29, 2006 11:00 a.m.
