Tony "Tiger" Chavez Sr., 65, a longtime resident of Moriarty, NM, passed away Friday April 7, 2006, in Albuquerque, NM with his loving family beside him. He was born June 12, 1940, to Cayetano L. and Simona T. Chavez, in Palma, NM. He Married Mary Louise Chavez on January 23, 1960 in San Frisco, CA. Tiger was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM and was the Owner and a truck driver of Chavez & Sons Trucking, he was driving until just a few days ago. He is survived by the Love of his wife, Mary Louise Chavez of Moriarty, NM; two sons, Tony "Tiger Jr." and his wife Crystal Chavez of Moriarty, NM, and Georgie Chavez and Patrick Vigil; two daughters, Nellie and her husband Chris Gomez of Estancia, NM, Dorothy and her husband Jonathan Ipiotis, of Moriarty, NM and Daughter-in-law, Marie Chavez; four sisters, Frances and her husband Mario, Cuellar of Foley, AL, Maria and her husband Davie Thompson of Waterbury, CT, Delores and her husband Wade Carson of Houston, TX, and Elena and her husband Donald Chavez of Moriarty, NM; four brothers, Joe M. and his wife Jane Chavez of Moriarty, NM, Albert and his wife Clarabelle Chavez of Moriarty, NM, Carlos and his wife Leslie Chavez of Moriarty, NM, Cayetano Jr. and his wife Julia Chavez of Moriarty, NM, and brother-in-law Ernest Chavez of Albuquerque, NM; three aunts Florinda Encinias of Moriarty, NM, Celina Encinias of Moriarty, NM and Melita Aragon of Vaughn, NM; one uncle Manuel L. Chavez, of Moriarty, NM; ten grandchildren Robert and his wife Consuelo Chavez, Jeff Chavez,, Marcos Chavez, Christopher Gomez, Candido Gomez, Yolanda Chavez, Yevette Chavez, Malena Ipiotis, Jonathan Ipiotis, and Jude Ipiotis; three great grandchildren Aaliyah Chavez, Isaac Chavez, and Mariah Gomez; and Many nieces and nephews. Tiger was preceded in death by his parents Cayetano L. and Simona T. Chavez; grandparents Manuel S. and Tiodorita Chavez, and Tranquilino and Manuelita Trujillo; one Son Sammy Chavez; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Max and Nellie Chavez. Tiger will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle, truck driver, and friend and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A rosary will be recited Monday April 10, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at the Moriarty Civic Center. The Mass will be held Tuesday April 11, 2006 at 10:00 a,m. also at the Moriarty Civic Center, with father Young officiating. Burial will follow next to his son Sammy Chavez at the Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery, in Moriarty, NM. Pallbearers will be Robert Chavez, Jeff Chavez, Marcos Chavez, Yolanda Chavez, Yevette Chavez, Christopher Gomez, Candido Gomez, Malena Ipiotis, Jonathan Ipiotis, and Jude Ipiotis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Aaliyah Chavez, Isaac Chavez, and Mariah Gomez.
