Francis Gilbert Varney was born in Hopkinton, NY on December 31, 1922. He is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Stella. Beloved son of James and Nancy Varney (deceased) and brother of Fred and Larry Varney (deceased). A resident of Potsdam, NY from 1951-1967, he came for a visit to Albuquerque, NM in 1956 and fell in love with the Southwest; he eventually returned in 1967 with his family to call Albuquerque his home. He was retired from administration at Presbyterian Hospital. Survived by his devoted children: Nancy (Robert) Schoenberger of Pittsford, NY, Colleen (Tom) Wilson of Scottsboro, AL, John (Patti) Varney and David Varney of Albuquerque, NM; his 12 loving grandchildren: Heidi, Bob, John II, Chris, Jennifer, Brian, Andrew, Kevin, Jessica, Mathew, Monique, and Scott; his 12 beautiful great-grandchildren: Trenton, Devin, Adrianna, John III, Samantha, Phoebe, Carter, Owen, Ryker, Devin, Maxwell, and Gannon; his nieces and nephews: Jimmy, Lonnie, Mary Ann, Debbie, and Donald; his sisters-in-law; Loretta and Elizabeth Wood. A devout Catholic who loved his family, his pets and enjoyed traveling and working in his garden. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A viewing and visitation will be held Friday March 31, 2006 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday April 1, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Fr. Francis X, Eggert celebrant.
