Obituary for RAMIREZ

Macario Ramirez went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2006 at the age of 80. He was born in Albuquerque on March 10, 1926 to Manuel and Ventura Ramirez. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Angie, and three brothers, Ramon, Secundino, and Casimiro Ramirez. Mr. Ramirez is survived by his eight children: Antonio Ramirez and wife, Laura, Martha Rodriguez, Manuel Ramirez and wife, Elaine, Marcario Ramirez Jr. and wife, Patty, Albino Ramirez, Monica Chavez and husband, Alejandro, Louisa Raught and husband, John, and Emily Carmignani and husband, Albert. He is also survived by two brothers, Deacon Nestor Garcia and wife, Lucia, and Joe Garcia and wife, Viola; one sister, Lala Torrez; grandchildren: Christina Gurule, Antonio Ramirez Jr., Tanya Maldonado and husband, Pat, Manuel Ramirez, Tinelle Minns, Robert Ramirez and wife, Lisa, Angela Ramirez, Jackie Acosta, Daniel Ramirez and wife, Kaiani, Veronica Acosta, Michael Ramirez, and Rebekah Ramirez; and 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army. Macario was employed by Hutchinson Fruit Co. for many years, and then Presbyterian Hospital, Housekeeping Department before he retired in 1991. His nickname at Pres Hospital was "happy" because he was always whistling while he worked in the ER. He belonged to Holy Family Catholic Church over 45 years where he also briefly worked in maintenance after retiring from Presbyterian Hospital. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping. A viewing and visitation for Mr. Ramirez will be held Thursday, March 30, 2006 from 6:00 to 7:00 with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church. Services will be held Friday March 31, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family with his brother, Deacon Nestor Garcia as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with his grandsons: Tony Ramirez Jr., Daniel Ramirez, Manuel Ramirez Jr., Robert Ramirez, Michael Ramirez, and Pat Maldonado serving as casket bearers.
