Obituary for PACHECO

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday March 12, 2006

Odilia "Ode" Pacheco went home to be with the Lord on March 10, 2006. She passed away peacefully at home and was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 7, 1944 to Helen and Tommy Garcia, she is preceded in death by her mother, Helen Garcia. She fought a courageous fight against diabetes. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Leroy Pacheco, Sr.; daughter, Sandy Pacheco; son, Leroy Pacheco, Jr. and wife Jessica Pacheco; son, Gabriel Pacheco and wife Renee Pacheco; sisters Lorraine Romero, Corrine Garcia, Linda Cordova, Pearl Gabaldon, Pricilla Barela, Margaret Garcia, Geri Stanford and Mary Garcia, and one brother, Tommy J. Garcia; her two beloved grandsons, Jacob and Jarrod Pacheco; and her darling granddaughter, Alejandra, who will soon come into the world. Your love and generosity toward your grandsons will never be forgotten. You were the happiest when your "hijitos" were around and they were the happiest when they were with you. Ode worked at GTE Lenkurt for 18 years, where she made many friends. She graduated from Belen High School in 1962. She taught CCD classes at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, since she was in high school and continued to be a devout Catholic and an active member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, where she sang in the Spanish choir for many years. One of Ode's littlest enjoyments in life came from Bingo and her favorite slot machines at the Casino. She loved the action & thrill of wanting to hit the "big one". She always seemed to find enjoyment in the "little" things in life. Ode will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. If there is one thing we can say about our precious mother and grandmother, it would be that this world was a better place, simply because she was in it. Friends and family can join the family in remembrance at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 811 Guaymas Pl., NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108-2398. A Rosary will be recited on March 13, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on March 14, 2006 at 10:00 a.m
