Obituary for RIVERS

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday March 03, 2006

Judy Daffin Rivers, 60, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, in Albuquerque, of natural causes, after a long battle of pain and suffering. Judy was born November 12, 1945 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Frederick A. Bradshaw and Afton Lutz Bradshaw. She was married to Marvin "Doc" Rivers on February 27, 1987. Marvin and Judy shared a lifetime of love and happiness in their nineteen years together. Marvin has stood by her side tirelessly caring for her and providing her with a constant point of joy and "life" to her daily struggle. Their joking and open laughter together was shared by anyone who was around. Judy will long be remembered for her outgoing nature, her bright smile and twinkling eyes. Her biggest joys in life came from sharing with others. Cooking a meal, creating a craft or piece of artwork or simply engaging in a conversation with anyone about anything they cared to talk about. Struggling for years with a handicap that many would consider limiting Judy never let it hold her back. She always put so much fight and strength into anything she did that others were amazed by her sheer power of will. Judy is survived by her husband Marvin, his son Tommy Rivers and daughter Lisa Akins and grandchildren. Her brother Larry Bradshaw, son Guy Williams and granddaughter Katryna Williams. She was preceded in death by her father Frederick A. Bradshaw and mother Afton Lutz Bradshaw; and her daughter Trina Daffin. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2006, at 3:30 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to: Post Polio Health International, www.post-polio.org. French Mortuary 1111 University Blvd. NE 843-6333
