Betty Lou Halverstadt, 84, a resident of Placitas, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2006. She was born September 1, 1921, the daughter of Louis Frederick and Iva Jane Gerhardt Bodenhamer in Missouri. Betty was an Army veteran of WWII and she went to college on the G.I. Bill. She graduated from the University of California - Berkley. She was a master gardener and a master seamstress as well. She spent the last 35 years creating a secluded haven at her home in Castro Valley, CA. Betty will be missed by her loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Isaac Frederick Halverstadt. Betty is survived by one brother, Ross Bodenhamer and wife, Maxine of Albuquerque; niece, Linda Heath and husband, Ted of Placitas; nephew, Robert Provance and wife, Carol of Albuquerque; great-niece, Raquel Provance; two great-nephews, Shad Heath and wife, Denise and Tod Heath; two great-great-nieces, Kayleigh and Naomi Heath. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 13, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. in the Family Room of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with Rev. Martha A. Frederick officiating.
