Gene Battershell, 98, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, and moving from Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2006. Gene was born February 3, 1908, the son of Enis Hayes and Emma Bell Stipp Battershell in Pocahontas, IA. Gene attended the University of Illinois and graduated from the Indianapolis School of Pharmacy, now known as Butler University. He retired in 1973 after a lifetime career as a pharmacist. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth in 1993. Gene is survived by one son, Jay Battershell and wife, Chris of Corrales, NM; three daughters, Rondee Battershell of Sacramento, CA, Sally Swanson and husband, Dave of Albuquerque, and Julie Askins and husband, Jim of Pagosa Springs, CO; four grandsons, Peter, Paul, Derek, and Jarrod Battershell; and four great-grandchildren.
