Elizabeth M. Long, 81, an Albuquerque resident since 1952, died Tuesday, January 31, 2006. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joe Long of Albuquerque; daughter, Jan Evans of Albuquerque; sons, Joe Long of Bernalillo, NM, Robert Long and wife, Stephanie of Albuquerque and Steve Long and wife, Patty of Terrero, NM; granddaughters, Lisa Riser, JoAnne Steffan, Danielle Evans, all of Albuquerque, and Melissa Evans of Ashburn, VA; great-grandchildren, Emerson and Anneliese Riser, and Aiden Evans; brother, Jim Hixon and wife, Elsbeth of Mahomet, IL; sister-in-law, Anna Mae Herdman and husband, Dick of Harrison Township, MI; daughter-in-law, Heidi Harville of Albuquerque. Elizabeth grew up in Ames, IA. She attended Iowa State University where her father was a chemistry professor and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in dietetics. Following a one year dietetics internship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, she married her husband Joe on September 6, 1947. She devoted her life to her husband and children. Her hobbies were golf and cross-stitching. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 12:00, noon, Saturday, February 4, 2006 at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE with Dr. Michelle Tatlock, officiating.
