Mae Alece Cook, 83, passed peacefully in her home, Saturday, January 28, 2006. She was met in heaven by her brother, Buddy Fields; her father, W.H. Fields; her husband, Fred E. Cook; and her son, Fred James Cook. Left here to celebrate her life are her constant companion, Col. Gordon Weighton; her mother, Lynnie Walker Fields, now of Aurora, CO; and her children, Mary Cook of Scottsdale, AZ, Patti McKInney of Aurora, CO, Bill and Ginger Cook of Ft. Collins, CO, Doug and Lori Cook of Highland Ranch, CO, and Kenny and Ann Cook of Tijeras, NM; also her grandchildren, Jana Werner, Cheryl Keim, Erin Haley, Billy McKinney, Freddie McKinney, J.D. Cook, Tammy Shier, Amanda Cook, Keelan Cook, Dustin Cook, her caregiver, Nathan Cook, and Kendra Cook; also 12 great-grandchildren. She was born in Wendell, MO May 25, 1922, graduated from Missouri University, was the New Mexico State Fair Accountant for 23 years, and was a God loving member of Sombra Del Monte Church for 48 years. This gracious, smart lady loved her church, family, friends, books, crossword puzzles, ballroom dancing, and telling a good story. Services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Sombra Del Monte, 2528 Utah NE. Her passion was to help her church so instead of flowers, donations can be sent to Sombra Del Monte designated for the Youth Program.
