Obituary for EPSTEIN

Shirley Epstein, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, passed away after a very brief illness on Monday, January 21, 2006. She was born on March 12, 1928 in Sioux City, IA and then moved to Green Bay, WI, where she graduated from high school. After a short stay in California she joined the U.S. Foreign Service, Dept. of State, Washington, DC. She served our nation well, taking on challenging assignments. She retired in 1982 after 26 years of service. Her posts included the following: Finland, Morocco, Philippines, Pakistan, Ecuador, South America, Nigeria, Africa, Paris, France, and Rome, Italy. She resided in Paris, France and Albuquerque. Shirley is survived by her siblings, Mary Pavlik, Ray Epstein, and Riva Wilfer; her godchild; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends in Albuquerque and around the world. A special thanks to Polly Samoska, Pat Demers, Lou St. John, and Martha Court. There will be a Gathering of friends on Sunday, January 29, 2006, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Shirley's home.
