Obituary for ROGERS

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday January 17, 2006

W. Keith Rogers, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1939, died peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2006. He was born in Wapello, Iowa on June 10, 1920, to parents, William L. and Gladyce Rogers. Keith was a gentle man, never married, but loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Since he was born with spina bifida, he was a walking medical miracle. He was not expected to ever walk nor live into his teenage years. Nevertheless, he graduated from high school in Nebraska City, NE, moved to Colorado, then began work with AT&T as a testboardman in New Mexico. He joined the Army during WWII in 1942 and served with honor for three years as a sergeant. He graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1956 with a degree in electrical engineering and was employed by Sandia National Laboratories for six years. He is survived by his only sibling, James L. Rogers and wife, Virginia, along with their children; Julie DelMarcelle and husband, Pete, and children, David and Haley; Brian Rogers and wife, Kay, of Albuquerque and Lesley Weischbrodt and husband, Michael, and son Jacob, of Seattle. Keith's family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Charles Benton and Lovelace Vista Care Hospice, and specifically the owners and health care workers of Senior Care LLC, who made his final years pleasurable with loving care and attention. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Sandia Memory Gardens.
