Mike L. Chavez, 77, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2006, due to a brief illness. Mike was born April 28, 1928 in Lemitar, NM. He resided in Albuquerque with his family. Mike is survived by his wife, Rose L. Chavez; daughter, Darlene Chavez; sons, Michael, Steve, and Chris Chavez; daughters-in-law, Jennifer, Tammy, and Lisa Chavez; grandchildren, Dillon, Kyle, Ryan, and Josiah Chavez, Desiree Baca, David and Shaya Rogers; brothers, Bennie Chavez of Albuquerque, Fred Chavez of Socorro; sisters, Isabelle Apodaca of Albuquerque, Fedlina Pino of Socorro, and Margaret Baca of Las Cruces. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Samantha Chavez and Rachel Rogers; sister, Corina Padilla; and parents, Miguel and Elosia Chavez. Rosary was held Monday, January 9, 2006 at Riverside Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. and viewing will be from 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at St. Bernadette Church at 9:00 a.m.; burial will be in Santa Fe at the National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Bennie Chavez, Fred Chavez, Albert Sedillo Sr., Chris Salguero, Jondale Sandoval, and Alfonso Chavez. The family would like to express their gratitude for all the care and compassion given by the Pres. Hospice staff for helping us in our time of need. Mike was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, and most of all a great person. We know he is going to be taken care of, just as he has taken care of us.
