Flora Tafoya Vau, 85, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 18, 1920 in Alameda, a daughter of Eligio and Amalia Tafoya. She married Augustine Vau, August 7, 1939 in Alameda. Survivors include her husband of 66 years; four daughters and two sons: Sylvia (Walter) Fowlkes, Houston, TX; Gloria (Jim) Garcia, Albuquerque; Molly C De Baca, Albuquerque; Augusta (Flavio) Lucero, Albuquerque; Gary (Catherine) Vau, Denver, CO; James (Donna) Vau, Spring, TX; 31 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; three sisters and three brothers, Juanita Sparks, Missouri; Max (Sally) Tafoya, Alameda; Alice (Willie) Kozlowski, Albuquerque; Mela (John) Chavez, Alameda; Reverend Ignacio Tafoya, Alameda; Ross (Nella) Tafoya, Alameda. The Holy Rosary will be recited Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 9502 4th St. NW. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. also at the church. Graveside Service will take place Friday, January 6, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers are her grandsons; James Garcia, Wally Fowlkes, Gus Paul C De Baca, Dominic Lucero, Gary Vau II, James Vau Jr. Friends may visit Wednesday, January 4, 2006, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at French Mortuary West Side Chapel.
