Obituary for SCHMIDT

Charles Henry Schmidt, a resident of Albuquerque for 56 years, was called to our Lord peacefully in his home in the company of friends and family on the 29th of December 2005. Charles was predeceased by his wife, Anna L. Schmidt in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Linda Jaramillo Schmidt; sister, Ester Ridings of Missouri; his four children, Charles Henry Schmidt of Colorado, Kathy Jane Reap of Texas, Cynthia and Charles Casey of Virginia and Susan Ann Schmidt of New Mexico; seven grandchildren, Shaun Reap of Texas, Renee Schmidt, Ryan Schmidt, Micah DeHenau and Jacob John Schmidt, all of Colorado, and Ken and Scott Casey, both of Arizona. Charles is also survived by extended family, Rainer and Sarah Walther, Russ and Lisa Jaramillo and children Orion and Caleb, Renee Jaramillo and son, Derek, Wiley and Loretta Sayers and children, Alex and Jessica. He is also survived by his loving dog, Butch. Charles was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who lived a full life in every way possible. He was a very spiritual person who loved fishing, boating, and spending time with family. He had a fabulous sense of humor and loved to entertain those around him with his wonderful jokes, stories, and magic tricks. Charles served in the Navy while attending Cal Tech and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri in Rolla. He went on to help in the founding of multiple businesses including his own successful manufacturing business, United Metal Spinning Company (UMSCO). Charles always kept a positive outlook on life and stayed young at heart wanting "to remain child-like not childish." The family wishes to send its sincerest gratitude to all its caring friends, neighbors, friends of Bill W., Vista Care Hospice, and the staff of Lovelace Hospital. It is also requested that in lieu of flowers those wishing to honor the deceased, send donations to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Montgomery Blvd. NE, Suite 300, 87111, attn: Lorraine West or the American Diabetes Association of New Mexico, 2625 Pennsylvania NE, Suite 225, 87110. Services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2006, 11:00 a.m., at Church of the Good Shepherd, 7834 Tennyson NE, which was co-founded by the deceased. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. A reception will be held at the home of Tom and Carol Anderson, 1905 Monte Largo Drive NE following burial.
