Sharen Celia Escalera, 58, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 17 years, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2005. Sharen was born February 12, 1947 the daughter of Arthur Franklin and Mable Marie Oborland Cain in Columbus, OH. Even though she was born in Ohio, she grew up in Tucson, AZ. She had been a nurse at the Rio Rancho Nursing and Rehabilitation Center before her death. Sharen was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mable Cain. She is survived by her husband, Felix; four children, Herbert Powell and wife Carla of Putnam County, FL, Tony Powell and wife, Amy of Westminster, CO, Paul Escalera of Rio Rancho, and Sherrie Probst and husband, Michael of Rio Rancho; one brother, Kenneth Cain and wife, Judi of Murphysboro, TN; and one sister, Dorothy Throgmorton and husband, Gene of Rio Rancho; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Visitation for Sharen will be held today, Saturday, December 31, 2005 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. with the Service at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sharen's name to the Children's Hospital of New Mexico, 2211 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.
