Obituary for WEAVER

Halene Weaver passed away in Chandler, AZ, December 21, 2005, at age 89, six days prior to her 90th birthday. Her husband C. R. "Dogie" Weaver predeceased her by several years. She is survived by her three sons, Bill, Leonard "Rusty" and Bob. Her family also included her sister, Betty (deceased) and Betty's children a son and three daughters all living in Florida with their families. Halene was a well known educator who retired from both the public school system in Tucson, AZ and from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. During her younger years in Ironton, OH, she appeared in stage plays, was an operatic soprano, and valedictorian of her high school class. She received her degree from Wooster College. Her professional contributions included the initial evaluation for the Head Start program, and she was cited for her work in early childhood education in New Mexico, as well as nationally and internationally. Halene will be missed by her family and the multitude of teachers and children who learned from her. A Memorial will be held in Albuquerque, NM, on a date to be announced.
