Obituary for SANCHEZ

ORLANDO ELI. Mr. Orlando Eli Sanchez, 80, a life-long resident of Albuquerque, flew his last mission navigating straight into the waiting arms of God and his beloved wife, Libby. Orlando prepared for his last flight at home at twelve o'clock high with his five children as his flight crew, his grandchildren and great- grandchildren present to see him off. Orlando broke through all barriers of speed, sound and ascended into the light of heaven on Christmas Day. Orlando was a decorated Veteran of the United States Army Air Corps in World War II in the China, Burma, India Theater. Mr. Sanchez was a member of the Catholic Church. Orlando is survived by his children, O. Paul Sanchez and wife, Christine, M. Yvette Sanchez, Cynthia A. Mitchell and husband, Joe, Joseph A. Sanchez and David R. Sanchez. He was grandfather to Adam P. Sanchez of Washington, D.C., Joseph Brian Mitchell, Eric Shawn Mitchell, Jennifer Pauline Garcia and husband, Scott of Tacoma, WA, and Joseph Andrew Sanchez; two great-grandchildren, Alanna Mitchell and Tyler Mitchell; his cousins, Juan (Polo) Armijo and wife, Stella and Betty Simoni; many other nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and friends. Orlando was preceded in death by his wife, Libby Loretta Sanchez. A visitation for Mr. Sanchez will be Wednesday evening, December 28, 2005 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. Final visitation will be Thursday morning December 29, 2005 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal SW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Father John. Interment will follow at the San Jose de Armijo Cemetery with Military Honors by the United States Army. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Adam P. Sanchez, Joseph Brian Mitchell, Eric Shawn Mitchell, Jennifer Pauline Garcia, Scott Garcia and Joseph Andrew Sanchez. Arrangements by: Gabaldon Mortuary 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW 243-7861
