Obituary for STEPHENS

Lucy O. Stephens, 85, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, died Christmas morning, December 25, 2005. She is survived by her two children, Patricia Gonzales and Steven Stephens and wife, Debbie, all of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren, Ramona Massimo-Simmons and husband, Lamarr, Richard Massimo and wife, Lisa, Raymond Massimo and fiancee, Teresa, Rhonda Haycox and husband, Chris, Justine Hieber and husband, Eric, Salvador Gonzales, Benjamin Stephens and wife, Nicole, Jason Stephens, and Samuel Stephens; ten great-grandchildren, Anita, Stephanie, Jackie, Alicia, Jolene, Andrea, Joshua, Jessie, Clarice, and Tristan; one great-great grandchild, Ashley Nicole; two sisters, Irene Padilla and Mary Gonzales; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond "Steve" Stephens on August 25, 2005; son, baby Edward Sanchez; daughter, Rosemary Massimo; and son-in-law, Richard Massimo. Lucy was born in Albuquerque on November 27, 1920 to Jim and Lucy OngDo. She attended Albuquerque High School. Lucy married Raymond Stephens in Colorado Springs, CO in 1945 and devoted her entire life to him and her family. She fell in love with the Lord at the age of five and continued her devotion throughout her life, being involved with the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, helping to build the community at Bethany House and the Catholic Charismatic Center. Lucy was involved in the music ministry for prayer groups at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and throughout the city. She and Steve traveled throughout the United States providing Charismatic leadership training for others. Lucy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and spiritual mother to many in the community and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Tuesday, December 27, 2005 from 4:30 p.m. till Rosary at 5:00 p.m. Glory Christian Fellowship, 2417 Wyoming Blvd. NE will host a fellowship reception at 6:30 p.m. for family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, December 28, 2005, 9:00 a.m. at the Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE with Father Tom Zotter, Celebrant. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Benjamin Stephens, Jason Stephens, Samuel Stephens, Richard Massimo, Ray Massimo, and Salvador Gonzales. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joshua and Jessie Massimo, Lamarr Simmons, and Eric Hieber.
