Obituary for LARSON

Lois Rebecca Larson, 88, of Moriarty, NM, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 in Albuquerque, NM with her loving family beside her. Lois was born December 23, 1916 in McIntosh, NM to George Phillip and Margaret Ellen (Adams) Davis. She attended the University of New Mexico, and was a teacher until she married her first husband, the father of her five children, Voyle Larson, who preceded her in death in 1993. She was a clerk/secretary for the First Baptist Church in the 1930s, and 1940s, as well as teaching Sunday School for many, many years. Lois was a leader and instructor for the McIntosh Extension Club and attended the New Mexico State University for continued education. She was a master seamstress and her handy work was expressed in the garments she designed and sewed for family, friends, and professional people. Her quilts and upholstery adorn the rooms of many homes in New Mexico and other states. She was also known for the crafts she made which were treasures and gifts for many. Lois raised five children; was a second mother to her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren; was an Election Judge for many years; and helped start the Torrance County Association for Retarded Citizens. Lois is survived by her husband, Merrill Lee Larson of the home; sons, Donald L. Larson and his wife, Barbara of Alcoa, TN, Bill Larson and his wife, Marilyn of Moriarty, NM; daughters, Frances Davis and her husband, Walter of Moriarty, NM, Norma Brownlee and her husband, Gary of Granger, WA, and Irma Wolf of Moriarty, NM; a brother, Frank L. Davis of Albuquerque, NM; a sister, Marian Barnes of Moriarty, NM; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren, one of which has gone home to heaven, Bradley Ness. Lois will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. All that knew, and loved her will miss her. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 26, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Moriarty, NM. The Reverend Tom Shenk will officiate. Pallbearers will be all grandsons, and grandsons-in-law: Michael Scott Brownlee, Brian Larson, Kenneth Larson, Charles Emig, David Larson, David Eason, Patrick Ness, Jim Head, Kevin Adcock, and Chris Smeenk. Honorary pallbearer will be Alvin T. "Tuffy" Plant. Interment will follow at the Mountainview Cemetery in Moriarty, NM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that a donation be made to the New Mexico Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 629, Portales, NM 88130; The New Mexico Boys Ranch, P.O.
