Obituary for FANNING

Agnes McDonough Fanning, 100, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at Montebello Retirement Home. Mrs. Fanning was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Wallace A. Fanning. She is survived by her three children, Patricia Fanning Farnsworth, Mary Jo Fanning Maly and husband, Richard, and Dr. James Fanning and wife, Mary. She leaves eight grandchildren and three great-grandsons. Agnes graduated from the University of Missouri in 1928 with Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in History. She came to Albuquerque and taught at Albuquerque High School. Following her marriage to Dr. Fanning in 1935, the family lived in Barrington, IL until 1953 when they moved to New Mexico. Mrs. Fanning was active in Chi Omega, the League of Women Voters, the DAR, the Pan-American Round Table, the Committee on Foreign Relations, the Girl Scout Council, the Casa Angelica Board of Director and several other organizations. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Newman Center Chapel, 1815 Las Lomas Road NE, on the University of New Mexico Campus at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2005. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dr. James W. Fanning, Andrew W. Farnsworth, Edward W. Maly, Michael J. Fanning, Richard W. Maly, and J. Stanley Lindgren.
