Obituary for TROMBINO

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday December 11, 2005

Violet Trombino, "Mrs. T", passed away unexpectedly in her home on Tuesday, December 6, 2005. She was born in Illinois on Tuesday, November 25, 1924 and moved to Albuquerque in 1964 where she and her husband, Mario, started in the restaurant business. After being in and out of the business for some years they, along with their son, Raymond, built and opened TROMBINO'S RESTAURANT in 1979. . . specializing in Italian and Seafood dishes. Violet was lovingly known as "Mrs. T" to many of her employees and some of her regular customers. During her "Hostessing" duties at the restaurant, "Mrs. T" was often known to calm unhappy, small children by offering one of her delicious, homemade anise cookies. That, plus her wonderful smile seemed to do the trick! She was preceded in death by her loving husband and soul mate, Mario Trombino. She is survived by her son, Raymond; daughter-in-law, Kathy; and three grandchildren, Sarah, Suzanne, and Benjamin. She also leaves behind a large extended family including her sister, Marge Thomka; many nephews and nieces, including Penny Lewandowski who was like a daughter to her; Penny's children, Karyn Wheathered and Thomas Lewandowski; and many wonderful friends. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 12, 2005, 1:00 p.m., Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM at the Chester T. French Mausoleum Chapel. French Mortuary 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE (505) 823-9400
