Lisa Diane Shodean, 41, died Saturday, December 3, 2005 at her parent's home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Born January 24, 1964 in Wilmar, MN, she is survived by her father and stepmother, David and Pat Shodean of Rio Rancho, NM; a brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Pam Shodean; and niece, Karissa Shodean of Cleveland, MN; sister, Karen Shodean; and brother, Jonathan Shodean of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by stepbrothers, Kyle Johnson, Derek and Wendy Johnson; and stepsister, Erin Johnson-Kruft and George Kruft. Lisa was preceded in death in 1978 by her mother, Dione Skarie Shodean in 2005, and by her grandmother, Mildred Skarie of Detroit Lakes, MN. Lisa was a Major in the U.S. Army serving as a Career Manager with the Officer Management Division in the Human Resources Command in St. Louis, MO. Her service was distinguished with numerous medals and commendations received for meritorious service and outstanding performance. A graduate of California State University - Fresno and Hamlin University, Lisa was always dedicated in her military assignments, and she was actively involved with the churches where she was stationed; most recently St. Paul's Evangelical Church in St. Louis, MO. She will be remembered for her Christian spirit and her exuberant outlook on life. She was an avid skier, hiker, and camper. She really enjoyed padding her kayak on any nearby lake, river or stream, enjoying the great outdoors. Visitation is at Sunrise Funeral Options, 2400 Southern Blvd. Rio Rancho, NM on Sunday, December 11, 2005, 5:00-8:00 p.m. Services celebrating Lisa's life will be held at 12 noon, Monday, December 12, 2005 at Community of Joy Lutheran Church, 841 Saratoga Rd. Rio Rancho, NM. A military service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
