Obituary for HOWARD

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday December 11, 2005

Sylvia Little Howard of Placitas, NM passed away on December 7, 2005 after a long and brave battle with cancer. Sylvia was born in Chaddeston, England on February 27, 1939. After spending her early adult life in England, she subsequently lived in Iran, Kuwait, and finally in the United States. Her life was filled with adventure. Her travels brought her much pleasure and she considered herself fortunate to have had the opportunity to see the world, and to share her experience with her children. She was a wonderful parent and grandparent, and a beautiful, intelligent, and vivacious person. Her family and friends are deeply saddened by her passing, but find comfort in knowing that she is in a better place, finally free of pain. Sylvia requested that donations be made to local Hospice organizations in lieu of flowers and memorials. She spent her final weeks under the care of the TideWell Hospice, initially at home, and then, during her final days, in their beautiful Hospice House in Sarasota. She found them to be a wonderful, caring, and supportive organization, as did her grateful family. She is survived by her two children, Christopher and Melanie; two grandchildren, Logan and Devon; her loving and loyal husband, Colonel Barry J. Howard (USAF retired); and her sister, Lesley. A Memorial Service will be held at the chapel of Kays Pronger Funeral Home, 635 East Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL 33950 (941-639-1133) on December 16, 2005 at 7:00 p.m.
