Obituary for BALCOMB

Kenneth C. `Blue' died peacefully on November 10, 2005 in the Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood, AZ of heart failure. He was born in Albuquerque on February 25, 1920 and attended the University of New Mexico. He received a law degree from the University of Colorado and embarked on a life-long career in water law in Glenwood Springs, CO. On three separate occasions, he argued and won cases before the United States Supreme Court. Blue retired to Rimrock, AZ several years ago. An avid hunter and sportsman, he loved the outdoors and especially the Western Slope water and streams. Blue was preceded in death by his wife, M. Michelle Balcomb. He is survived by his brothers, Edward V. Balcomb, Robert S. Balcomb, and J. Douglas Balcomb; and by his children, Kenneth III of Friday Harbor, WA, Scott and Mark, both of Glenwood Springs, CO, and Katharine Rippy of Silt, CO. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held November 18, 2005 at the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Glenwood Springs, CO. May Blue rest in peace.
