Obituary for NEWMAN

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday December 09, 2005

Lyle (Bud) Newman, 79, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, went to live with the Lord on December 1, 2005. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty Newman; son, Cary Newman and wife, Gay of Bayfield, CO; son, John Newman and wife, Donna of Ft. Collins, CO; daughter, Julie and husband, Mark Ludwig of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Sarah Newman and Amy Newman; Jessie DelaCruz; grandsons, Justin Ludwig and Michael Ludwig; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marion Newman of Mechanicsville, IA. Bud served 3 years in the Army in WWII. He received his B.S. in Physics from the University of Wyoming and did his graduate work at the University of Wisconsin. His retirement from Sandia Laboratory in 1985 allowed more time to spend at the mountain cabin he built in 1972. Bud was a long-time member of St. John's United Methodist Church where he served in various capacities and sang in the Chancel Choir. For many years he was a member of the teaching team of the Sandia District of the Boy Scouts of America. More recently he did volunteer work in the paleo lab at the Museum of Natural History. Besides working with his hands and spending time with family, he loved music, traveling and sitting on the deck of his beloved cabin watching the stars come out at night. This gentle, easy-going man will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church with the Revs. David Edwards and Clyde Stanfield officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona, NE, Albuquerque 87110. French Mortuary 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE 275-3500
