Obituary for KING

Wayne King passed away on November 24, 2005. Wayne moved to Portland, TX in 1982 from Albuquerque, NM where he had been a resident since 1952 after moving from Roseville, OH. He was very active in Little League and Y.A.F.L. football with his sons. He was a long-time salesman in the food industry and never met a stranger. Upon moving to Portland, he became a salesman for the Lone Star Brewing Company. In 1990, he purchased the Dixie Cream Donut Shoppe, later expanding to Ingleside, Sinton, and Corpus Christi, TX. Wayne always opened his home to anyone in need of a place to stay, a meal to eat, or just a friend to talk to. He was a man of unconditional love. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys, and father, Elmer Gaye King. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pat King; his daughter, Shirley (Ed) Segotta; sons, Wayne, Jr. (Rebecca), Michael Gerald, Christopher Lee; a brother, Pete; nephew, Brandon; and 14 beloved grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that a donation be made to the American Cancer Society or Toys For Tots.
