Joe Martinez, age 80, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2005. A native New Mexican, he served in the US Coast Guard during WWII, where he was a POW and received the Purple Heart Medal. Joe was also a longtime member of ACRA Search and Rescue. He was preceded in death by his son, Rick Martinez and grandsons, David Martinez, Mark Martinez, Jonathon Martinez and Fabian Moreno Jr. Joe is survived by his wife of 62 years, Pauline Martinez; daughters, Beverly Williams and husband, Ben, Jeanne Martinez, Susan Wheeler and Cheryl Moreno; grandchildren, Donovan, Damian, Scott and Taylor; great-grandchildren, Rhianna, Cain, Joseph and John; sisters, Alvi and Frances; extended family members, Bill Kornrumph and family; other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Memorial services will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 816 Broadway SE. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2005.
