Obituary for LAGER

George R. Lager, 87, a resident of Abilene, TX, died Friday, November 18, 2005. He was born March 15, 1918 in Belle Plaine, Iowa and married Grace Irene Lager on March 7, 1946. George served in the US Army for 27 years in the Signal Corps and retired as a First Lieutenant. After retiring from the Army and moving to Albuquerque, he worked at Sparton Southwest until he retired in 1983. George and Irene were members of First Presbyterian Church of Albuquerque. After Irene's death, George moved to Abilene, Texas to be near his son and daughter-in-law. While living at Mesa Springs Retirement Village, he made numerous friends and enjoyed their monthly outings for good food and companionship. He is survived by his son, Robert "Bob" Lager and wife, Terri Marcus of Abilene, Texas; granddaughter, Grace Lager and husband, Mike Pierro of St. Petersburg, Florida; nephew, John Hagge and wife, Linda, along with their daughters, Sara and Elspeth of Ames, Iowa. Irene preceded George in death August 10, 2003. Services with military honors will be held Saturday, November 26, 2005, 2:00 p.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Entombment will follow.
