Obituary for SANCHEZ

Ruben Sanchez, age 80, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away peacefully at home on November 17, 2005, surrounded by his loving family. Ruben was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. He will forever be loved and missed by all. Ruben was always kind, friendly and full of love and joy. He rarely missed an opportunity to speak with whomever he came across. Ruben will be remembered as one with an extreme work ethic, having worked as a barber, having worked in the uranium mines in Grants, and finally retiring from the Santa Fe Railroad. Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Leandro and Candelaria Sanchez; his sister, Emma; and his long time companion, Senovia Cordova. He is survived by his nine children, Dolores Sparling and husband, Robert, Ruby Lyons and husband Doug, William Sanchez and fiancee, Loretta Lopez, Cathy Preissler and husband, Robert, Carol Archuleta and husband, Alfred, Gerald Sanchez and wife, Gerilynn, Daniel Sanchez and wife Naeomi, Francisco Sanchez and wife, Eva, and Ruben James Sanchez and wife, Jennifer. He is also survived by three sisters, Frances Garcia, Gloria Chavez, and Sofia Sanchez; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church beginning with a viewing on Sunday, November 20 at 5:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A final visitation will take place on Monday, November 21, 2005 at 8:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday, November 21, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Ruben's five sons, and his son-in-law, Robert Sparling.
