Obituary for RUSSELL

Sue Ann Hopkins Russell, 72, died peacefully at her residence in Albuquerque on November 11, 2005, with her two loving sons by her side. She was born in Wellington, TX on May 21, 1933, the daughter of Joseph and Fay Hopkins. Sue grew up in Albuquerque and graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1951. On August 3, 1953 she married Donald M. Russell in San Antonio, TX. Colonel Russell preceded her in death on December 3, 1967 as he served his country in Vietnam. Being an Air Force wife, she traveled around the U.S. developing many lasting friendships along the way. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and crafts. She was an excellent seamstress and made beautiful quilts. Holidays with family and friends gave her the opportunity to demonstrate her love of cooking. Sue is survived by her sons, Donald Lee Russell and wife, Melinda and David Michael Russell; one sister, Nancy Kersey; and grandchildren, Laurie Troge, Katie Russell, Lindsey Russell, and Scott Russell. Sue was also preceded in death by her daughter, Susan; her parents; sisters, Georgia and Juanita; bothers, Ben, Tony, and Jones "Hoppy". Memories of a loving mother, sister, and grandmother will be cherished always. Cremation has been conducted. A Memorial Service will be held at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at a later date.
