Joyce Rita Santiago-Greene passed away peacefully in her home on November 12, 2005 in Albuquerque, NM. As one of the Juan and Nina Santiago "kids", she was born in Albuquerque on June 17, 1957. Rita was a cheerleader, a team mom, and a hairstylist making many friends along the way with her winning smile. For many years she worked at Sixto's Style Cuts and fulfilled a life-long dream of opening her own beauty salon. As the owner of The Look, Rita and her sister Jackie continued to motivate and inspire people to reach for their dreams. In July 2004 cancer struck and Rita began her fight full force. She was an inspiration to those who knew her well, and also to those who only knew of her struggle. She will be remembered for her strength, character, and determination. She will be greatly missed and forever loved. Rita is survived by her loving husband, Hunter Greene, and her children, Nina Antoinette Santiago Greene, Joshua and Damian Jenkins. She is also survived by Damian's wife, Julie Lopez and their children, Jenaya, Devyn, and baby on the way. She will be dearly missed by her parents, Juan and Nina Santiago and her ten brothers and sisters: brother, Mark and wife, Polly Santiago; sister, Johnnina and husband, Roberto Ortega; sister, Joanne and husband, Dr. Joe Valles; brother, Michael Santiago and wife, Maurice Hovson; brother, Mario Santiago and wife, Trish Sanchez-Santiago; sister, Jude and husband, Michael Padilla; sister, Jacinta and husband, Fire Chief Robert Ortega; sister, Jacqueline and husband, Michael Gurule; brother, Matthew Santiago and wife, Alexis Johnson; and sister, Maura and husband, Stacey Blakemore. She will also be missed by her Godson, Domingo Valles; dear friends, Susan Candelaria and Luella Rubio; 27 nieces and nephews; 11 great-nieces and -nephews; and her multitude of relatives, friends, and clients. A Rosary in the memory of dear Rita will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe. A Mass celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 1860 Griegos Road NW.
