Obituary for COX

Steven B. "Steve" Cox, of Lafayette, CO, died Friday, November 11, 2005 from a stroke in Lafayette. He was 48. The son of Bruce Cox and Joan E. Pringle, he was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, June 4, 1957. He married Margot Wright on August 12, 1990, in Thousand Oaks, CA. He lived in Lafayette since 2002, after formerly residing in Longmont, CO; Mission Hill, SD; Sioux Falls, SD; Saco, MT; and Helena, MT. Mr. Cox graduated from William H. Harrison High School in Evansville, IN, in 1975 and earned degrees at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM, in 1979 and the Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN, in 1983. He was most recently co-pastor of Christ the Servant Lutheran Church in Louisville and started the Denver New Beginnings Women's Correctional Facility Congregation in Denver, CO. He was former associate pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Longmont, CO; former pastor of Vangen Lutheran Church in Mission Hill, SD; former associate pastor of Messiah New Hope Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD; former pastor of the Saco-Hinsdale Lutheran Parish in Saco, MT; and former associate pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Helena, MT. He was a member of Christ the Servant Lutheran Church in Louisville, CO. Mr. Cox was an avid sports fan and enjoyed the Denver Broncos, the Colorado Avalanche, the Colorado Rockies, and was a former little league baseball coach. He is survived by his parents of Palm Desert, CA; his wife, Margot Wright; a son, Dylan Cox-Wright, of Lafayette; and a daughter, Sophie Cox-Wright, of Lafayette; three brothers, Russell Cox, of Alamo, CA; Paul Cox, Derwood, MD; and Alan Cox of Highlands Ranch, CO; and a sister, Sandra Akins of Lake Arrowhead, CA. A celebration of life will be Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 506 West Via Appia in Louisville, CO. The Rev. Alan Bjornberg of the Rocky Mountain Synod, ELCA, will officiate. Services will conclude with a reception at the church.
