Raymond Vincent Mares, 83, passed away quietly, Monday, November 7, 2005. He was born Thursday, May 18, 1922 in Albuquerque, a son of Nicholas and Abelina Mares. He married Sadie Chavez, June 17, 1946. They had five children: Raymond Mares, Albuquerque, Julie and husband, Thomas Montoya, Austin, TX; John and wife, Jeanette Mares, Albuquerque; Rose and husband, Joe Swallows, Albuquerque; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth and Judy. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sadie Marie; four sisters; and one brother. He was a member of the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor, American Legion Post 72, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 401 and the Disabled American Veterans. A Holy Rosary will be recited Sunday, November 13, 2005, 7:30 p.m., at John XXIII Catholic Community.
