Marie G. Murphy, 87, of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2005 after a prolonged illness. Marie was born on December 24, 1917 in Virginia, MN, one of eight children. Marie was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Joseph. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Rodgers and husband, Donald Rodgers; son, Michael Murphy and Nadine Johnson; son, Thomas Murphy and wife, Barbara all of Albuquerque; daughter Victoria and husband, Tom of El Cajon, CA; sister, Harriet and brother, Jerome of Virginia, MN. Marie has seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. During WWII she moved to Chicago where she met and married Joseph A. Murphy. After Joe's service in the Army, they moved to Albuquerque in 1949. They relocated to San Diego, CA. in 1972 where Marie worked for the San Diego Unified Schools. She and Joe retired back to Albuquerque in 1987. Marie cared deeply for her family and was great source of comfort to them. She was admired by many for her memorable birthday cakes. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 505 N. Parkway, Memphis, TN.
