Elton Ray Bailey, 79, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away at his summer residence in Janvrin's Harbour in Richmond, CO, Tuesday, October 11, 2005. Born in Wedowee, AL, he was the son of the late Roscoe Conklin and Frances Jeanette (Fincher) Bailey. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Virginia Hurt Bailey; daughters, Marsha Smith and husband, Roscoe of Window Rock, AZ, Margaret Anne Aviles and husband, Louie of Hinkley, CA; stepdaughter, Susan Sotelo and husband, Jorge of Rio Rico, AZ; son, Michael Bailey of San Diego, CA; sisters, Mrs. Sara Bartlett of Marietta, GA, Mavis Gilbert and husband, Lloyd of Villa Rica, GA, Dorothy Mooney and husband, Ermel of Flowery Branch, GA; brother, Malcom of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his brothers, Ridley, Talmadge, Terrel, Glynn, Byron, and one in infancy; sisters, Eudelle and Irmice. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., at Rio Grande Presbyterian Church, 600 Coors Blvd. NW, with Dr. Steven Voris officiating. Interment of cremains will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rio Grande Food Project c/o Rio Grande Presbyterian Church, 600 Coors Blvd. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87121.
