Mary Attu, 64. Born September 12, 1940 to Darlyne and Richard Hoffman of Crystal, MN. Died in New Mexico August 31, 2005. She now walks with the creator. Mary was a woman of spirit, creativity, integrity, peace and generosity. A teacher, artist, mother, grandmother, and friend to many; her kindness will be missed. As an artist, she called herself a "container" maker; baskets, medicine bags, key chains, and spirit dolls. They were often gifted by her, to complete strangers. Mary taught at Willmar Vocational school, which is now, Ridgewater College. While Married to Dave Schodean they had a farm east of town, raised chickens, cultured sod, hydroponic tomatoes, bedding plants. The greenhouse was named "Willow Crest Magic Gardens" and both attended Calvary Lutheran Church. She is survived by her birth children; Karen Shodean, Wayne Johnson, Jon Shodean, and her "bonus" children Major Lisa Shodean and Jeff Shodean. A celebration of her life will be held October 22, 2005. Please let us know if you would like to share a story of your relationship with Mary. Gifts, flowers, and donations not necessary.
