Ruby Beck, 100, passed away on Saturday October 1, 2005 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born in Cleveland, MS on August 28, 1905 to Newt and Viola Floyd Foley. She is the seventh child of twelve and was a member of The First Church of Religious Science in Albuquerque, NM; she continued her membership there and was faithful when her health permitted. She believed her long life was due to God's grace and mercy and the fact she did not worry about anything. In the 1950s, while residing in Flint, MI, Ruby owned and operated Beck's Fine Foods Restaurant. She was also a chef and cook for the Masonic Temple in Flint. Ruby graduated from Kellberg Institute-College of Massage and Physical Therapy in 1960. Her mission in life was helping others through her massage therapy and advanced foot techniques. She continued this practice until 2005. She was a member of Friends of Many Cultures, The Lions Club, and the NAACP. Those who shared her life and are left to cherish her memory are her sister, Addie M. Barnett-Hart of Flint, MI.; nieces, Rogie Washington of Las Vegas, NV, Norma J. West and Arnetta Lynn Crawford, both of Los Angeles, CA; adopted daughter, Carolyn Boone-Thompson of Suffolk, VA; adopted son, John McAllister of Riverside, GA; godson, Gregory Truss of Flint, MI. Ruby will be greatly missed by a host of nieces and nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; and other relatives and special friends. Ruby's family offers their special thanks to Jackie McKinney from Home Instead Senior Care, Monica Dawson from Genny's Senior Care and Johanna Kibbin of Heartland Hospice Services. Visitation will be Sunday October, 9, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary. Funeral Service will be Monday October 10, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, 4310 Sara Rd. at Meadowlark in Rio Rancho, with Entombment to follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park.
