Obituary for CRAVENS

Mary Lorine Cravens, 95, a longtime resident of Torrance County, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2005 in Albuquerque, NM. Lorine was born June 30, 1910 near Tioga, TX to Willie Shirley and Edna May (Brown) Cannon. She and her family moved to Moriarty, NM when she was 12 years old. Lorine married Carl Cravens on May 18, 1930 in Pedernal, NM. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1984. Lorine and Carl began a dry land bean farm near Pedernal, NM. Lorine was an avid gardener, delighting in having bunches of beautiful flowers and large pumpkins. She and Carl loved traveling and especially loved fishing in Mexico. Her two sons, LeRoy Carl Cravens and his wife, Mercedes of Encino, NM, and Lamar B. Cravens and his wife, Vergie Miree of Moriarty, NM; a brother, Carl Cannon, and his wife, Teddie of Moriarty, NM; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren survive Lorine. Her parents, Willie and Edna Cannon; her husband, Carl; son, Phillip William Cravens; and sister, Merle Shields preceded Lorine in death. Her family will dearly miss Lorine as will all that knew and loved her. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Moriarty, NM. Pastor David Terry will officiate. Pallbearers will be Glen Cravens, Dan Cravens, Kent Cravens, Paul Cravens, Keith Cravens, Mark Cravens, Clay Cravens, and Troy Neives. Honorary pallbearers will be Cindy Cravens, Deena Bueno, and Holly Cravens. Interment will be at the Mountain Valley Cemetery in Edgewood, NM.
