Obituary for HENDRICKSON

James Robert, "Jim Bob" Hendrickson, 65, passed away at home early on October 1, 2005. Jim Bob was born on December 6, 1939 in Hobbs, NM to LaHoma and Bobby Hendrickson. His childhood was spent in Oil Center, NM where his father was a pioneer in the oil and gas industry. After graduating from Texas Western University in El Paso with a degree in Biology, Jim Bob went on to teach Science and coach football in El Paso. He was a Claims Manager for Employer's Casualty of Texas for 17 years before establishing Tucumcari Tire Company. Jim Bob owned and operated Tucumcari Tire for 28 years. Jim Bob served as a Quay County Commissioner from 1992 to 1996. Some of the accomplishments for which he was the most proud during his work as a Commissioner were the County Health Department building and the County Fire Houses. Jim Bob will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, heart of gold, and love for life. He was fair, kind, and compassionate, which was evidenced by the many lives he touched. Jim Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Charlotta Robertson; and his childhood friend, Dallan Sanders. Survivors include his loving wife, Nola; his children, Todd Hendrickson, son, Brett and wife, Samra Hendrickson, all of Albuquerque; his son, Clint and wife, Christine Dougherty of Tucumcari; daughter, Whitney Reid of Phoenix; three grandchildren; his sister, Kay and husband, Bob Lord of Eunice, NM; his sister, Betty and husband, Roy Lacy of San Angelo, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim Bob was immensely proud of all of his children and their accomplishments. He loved them dearly and in return they respected and loved him. Jim Bob will be greatly missed and forever cherished by his family and friends. As per his wishes, the body of James Robert Hendrickson will be cremated. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at 10 a.m. in Dunn's Chapel located in Tucumcari, NM.
